Dear Mr. Grossmith,

HONG KONG... 28th February,

19 50.

As I am now acting Commissioner of Labour and as Hawkins is going on leave very shortly, he handed on to me your letter to him of 9th February 1950 which concerned the importation into U.K. of cheap shirts from Hong Kong.

I regret that I have not been able to get the information you require earlier, and it is possible, therefore, that this question is not now such a live one. In fact I hope it is not. The attached notes and comments are, however, the result of our most recent enquiries and I hope will be what you require.

I presume that you still have the original of the note labelled "Hong Kong Shirts" so am retaining the copy you sent

Yours faithfully,

us.

All aface

(.A.. Macfadyen)

C.A. Grossmith, Esq., C.B.E.,

Assistant Secretary,

Colonial Office,

The Church House, Great Smith Street, London, S...1.
